Facial Skin Care Information

Have you found yourself wondering if you should begin a facial skin care routine? It is never too late or too early to begin caring for your skin and having a skin care treatment. Facial skin care is especially important because your face is the most viewed part of your body. If your face appears older, then people assume that you are older. Facial skin care is an excellent step towards building one's self esteem as well as improving one's image. Anti-aging products are helpful in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, fading age spots and evening out your skin tone. Feeling better about your skin can boost your self confidence. While anti-aging products are not the fountain of youth, they can help you feel better about yourself while keeping your skin healthy. The collagen and vitamins found in many anti-aging products help your skin mimic its once youthful appearance, by repairing some of the damage caused by every day life.

Skin care treatment tips can be found in women's magazines, on talk shows, and sometimes even written on the walls of bathroom stalls. While such skin care tips can literally be off the wall, like applying animal placenta to your face, a few tips, like using egg whites to tighten pores, are actually worth looking into. Collecting a few proven skin care treatment tips from your friends and family members can be very productive.

Professional skin care treatments are available if you have problem skin or even if you are new to facial skin care. Professional skin care specialists can examine your skin and determine which treatments are best suited for your skin type. A relaxing facial and massage at a day spa can help melt away the stress of your busy life. Professional skin care products are sometimes recommended by a specialist after a spa treatment. This is an excellent way to begin your facial skin care routine if you are unsure of how to begin.

Beginning a facial skin care treatment routine is an easy way to spend time with your teenage daughter, or bond with your preschooler. Slowing down your day enough to allow a facial skin care treatment to dry is an excellent way to catch your breath during those hectic days of chasing down babies and folding laundry. Facial skin care treatment will not make you royalty, but it will make you feel like a queen.

Sensitive Skin Care

Contrary to what you might have heard, sensitive skin isn't considered a medical condition. When someone says he or she has sensitive skin, it typically means the skin has become irritated, red, swollen and/or itchy as a result of either an environmental condition or use of a certain product. The term is also used to describe changes to a person's skin in response to allergic reactions.

Why can skin be sensitive?

Although there are several reasons why skin can be sensitive, the most common is that skin is reacting negatively to a certain product or possibly some combination of products. Think about your daily skin care regime, specifically the number of products you use. Soaps, cleansers, toners, blemish reducers, blemish concealers, foundation, blush, facial masks, after shave lotion - the list never ends! You probably use products that are made by a number of different manufacturers, too. While your intentions are good, some skin cannot tolerate such an assault.

Causes of sensitive skin

Trying to pinpoint the cause of sensitive skin is not always as simple as discontinuing use of a certain product. Because of the nature of sensitive skin, it can take hours or even days before the signs of sensitivity are visible. And the sensitivity may not be caused by a product. Exposure to the sun can create skin problems, as can extremely hot water. Your laundry detergent, fabric softeners, shampoo, perfume, hair spray, and even the household cleaning products you use can be the culprit. Certain foods and even some plants can cause symptoms of an allergic reaction as well.

Healthy skin is less sensitive because it's able to act as an effective barrier. Sunburned skin, skin that's excessively dry and skin that is otherwise damaged tends to be more sensitive. That's one reason why people who don't normally have sensitive skin develop skin sensitivity during winter months when dry, cold air strips skin of its protective moisture.

How to treat sensitive skin

Before sensitive skin can be treated, it's important to figure out the underlying cause of the problem. It may be necessary to seek the advice of a dermatologist as you may have a skin condition such as eczema, psoriasis or rosacea. Here are some tips for treating sensitive skin.

Start reading product labels - the fewer ingredients, the better. Avoid products containing alcohol, fragrances, botanicals, antibacterial, ethanol and propylene glycol.

Spot test new facial products before applying to entire face. Apply a few dabs behind ears for 5 days, and if there's no reaction, apply beside eyes for another 5 days. If all goes well, full facial coverage likely will be safe.

Choose natural fabrics for pillowcases and washcloths like 100% cotton or silk instead of synthetic materials. Check your 'cotton' balls, too. Some look like cotton but really are polyester.

Eat a balanced diet to ensure skin gets the nutrients it needs to remain healthy.

Keep skin moist and always apply sun protection.

Gently clean skin. Avoid harsh products like scrubbing mitts, excessively hot water and abrasive exfoliating products.

Black Skin Care - Taking Action

The amount of melanin in ones body defines the protection that the skin will have from the sun. Those with dark skin have more melanin in their body than the ones with light skin. African American skin care tends to be overlooked for that reason. Dark skin people think that they need not worry from our powerful sun. This is a common mistake. Black skin care is important at all ages and can be highly challenging. Although African American skin is protected more than other skin types, there are basic protection steps that have to be addressed.

Let's take a little side trip and talk about melanin. It's a skin pigment that gives color to your skin. If you see a light-skinned person with freckles, what you are seeing is someone with little spots of melanin. A freckle is created by small concentration of melanin. When you get tanned by the sun, what is actually happening is that the sun triggers melanocytes which are cells in your skin to produce more melanin. The melanin moves to the outer layer of skin and creates a darker skin color.

What melanin does is protect your skin from sunlight thus aiding black skin care. It also slows down the aging process of your skin. People with black skin tend to look younger than people with paler skin. On the other hand, it does not have the same elasticity as lighter skin. Studies have shown that there are differences in skin barrier function between black skin and white skin. In a study on infants, black infants were shown to have a greater barrier to water loss than did white infants. This is more nourishing to the skin because the water is there to feed the skin. African American skin care is important in all ages.

While skin comes in dry, normal, and oily regardless of the color or level of melanin, there are basic fundamental differences in the skin's ability to protect itself. The extra melanin creates a barrier to the skin that protects it but at the same moment, it also makes it more difficult to have a skin care treatment penetrate deep into the skin. This means that you might need heavier oil as the base of the skin care treatment so that it can treat the skin and yet not be too oily. In other words, your skin does not need more oil quite as much as it needs oil that can work into the layers of your skin. In short, smaller molecules.

Fortunately, there is emerging technology that addresses just this problem of creating exact ingredients with small molecules for greater penetration of the skin. The bad news is that only the high end product lines have yet to incorporate this technology, which means higher prices.

Black skin care is different from other skin care. African American skin care is different from one person to the other, according to skin type. Dark skin has its pluses and minuses and like any other skin type, it needs the aid and pampering treatment of skin care. Find out what kind of skin care treatment is right for your skin and make sure that it is designed for deep penetration.

Artistic Make-up....Yes Please!

To look attractive is a never ending desire from the ages for the human beings. Make up provided the solutions to this problem. It enhances the positive parts of your beauty and hides the ugly part cleverly. As the desire to show the beauty and attraction in different perspectives the demand for good make up artists began to trickle in. There are different demands for different occasions, like daily make up, natural make up, party make up, bridal make up, Stage make up, make for photography and modeling and movie and television make up.

The word "Make up Artist" gained its relevancy in the 1930s when professional movie production houses felt the need to give the artists a perfect look for the character they were playing. Usually make-up artists apply make-up and style hair for performers and presenters appearing on film, stage and television (they also help you with the day-to-day or special occasion or bridal make ups). The style varies from straightforward, contemporary make-up and hairdressing to more creative and specialist techniques.

Make-up artists play a large role, with important tasks which includes selecting and purchasing supplies, doing 'corrective' make-up and hair tidying, as well as applying full make-up, discussing with individuals/ directors / lighting departments the overall effect that they wan. This also includes lots of research for styles of hair and make-up, how to add prosthetics such as false noses and scars, wigs and hair decorations while doing the make up for movie, television and theatre production houses. For the professional make up artists working hours are long and irregular, and include evenings, weekends and public holidays. The work area is mainly restricted to indoors.

The job of a make up artist is very challenging. To become a good make-up artist he or she should be knowledgeable about a range of make-up and hair products, most important of all is that the make up artist should be innovative, artistic, creative, imaginative and resourceful. The make up artist should be diplomatic and tactful and should be able to cope with nervous individuals and performers and above all make up artist should enjoy working with a variety of people.

Good make-up artists must be artistically inclined and must possess a well-developed sense of colour and form. Imagination, initiative and originality are important qualities they should possess. Manual agility is absolutely essential. Since make-up artists work with many people, friendliness, patience and tact are essential qualities they must possess. Make-up artists must be dedicated to their job and be keen to learn and experiment with original and creative ideas. Make-up artists can specialize in more than one field such as model make-up, old-age make-up, fantasy make-up etc. The make-up artist first analyzes the faces of their clients, before they start applying the makeup. They consider the shape, bone structure, eye shape and complexion of the clients and the outcome they have to produce out of it. Make-up sessions can be very time-consuming, especially when special effects have to be created, and make-up artists have to stand on their feet for long periods. It could be expected of them to work any time of the day or night.

Most make-up artists are freelance so there is intense competition for individual contracts. Artists skilled in both make-up and hair styling have better prospects. Make-up artists usually enter the profession through make-up/beauty therapy courses and begin their career in beauty salons. Many of them start their career in film, stage or television as an assistant. Training for the make up artists is mainly on the job. For freelance make-up artists, advancement depends on establishing a reputation in the business and progressing onto more high profile productions.

Make Up School - Tips For The Woman Who Can't Afford Make Up School

When it comes to the best make up school, you need not look any further than your own home. Depending on how old the student is, mom can be the professor. Some of my most cherished memories of my mother are the times that she would show me how to put on make up. She's the one who taught me that foundation goes on before eyeshadow and to save the mascara for last. She also was a fairly objective judge, and never let me leave the house with a clown face. My mother also taught me that if you're going to wear bright lipstick, you should tone down the eyes. Conversely, if you're going to wear a lot of eyeshadow, a dramatic lip isn't something you want to go with.

I definitely learned a lot from my mom when it comes to putting on make up, but where did she learn it? Her mother died when she was too young to wear any, and I was always kind of curious as to which make up school she went to. I asked her one day, and she told me that she learned everything she knew from fashion magazines. They would show her which brushes to use for face powder, eyeliner and which work best for applying eyeshadow. In turn, she passed along that information to me.

I decided to look into her "alma mater", and in the process found out that magazines are indeed a decent alternative to make up school. The people who write the articles are experts in the field. Depending on which one you choose to read, you can even get the dos and don'ts of applying various forms of make up. You get all of this for the price of a subscription or two, which usually runs around $12 per year per magazine. It's a pretty sweet deal, if you ask me.

Hair style- short

Hair style- short

Short hair is the rage nowadays. It is easy to fix, easy to wash and easy to put together. Beyond this, short hair transcends time, gender and age! Male or female can enjoy the benefits of short hair in similar fashions and it is all about convenience. There are many famous actors and television personalities that have short hair, Paul McCartney is just one of the celebrities that sport the stylish cut and she often combines her short hairstyle with longer, flashier earrings. The short hairstyle may be right for you, but before you cut use the guide below to decide whether it is the right move for you or not!

* Which one and why? Deciding which one of the variety of short cut hairstyles you are most interested is a pretty important part of the process because if you choose the wrong one, it will be at least several weeks before you can attempt to fix it. A popular way of deciding is to look in a fashion or celebrity magazine and flipping through the famous hairstyles that are out there. Next, decide why you want the cut- for convenience, style, looks (or all three!). * Try before you buy! While you could act impulsively and get a haircut right away, it is far more important to try out a short style by wearing a wig (you can browse one of the various wig stores in a bigger city) or by pinning your hair up so you are simulating in a way what the new cut would look like. If you do this preview before you cut, you'll have a better chance of making a good decision! * Ask a friend! Instead of just relying on your own personal reflection, talk to a close friend about your decision. Show them the short hairstyle you want and show them how this short hairstyle looks when you simulate it. Make sure this friend is one that will be honest with you! * Research the short hairstyle! If you really like one particular type of cut that you've seen on an actress, go on the internet and search for pictures of her. The more pictures you can see from the different angles will give you a better viewpoint on the overall short hairstyle.

A short hairstyle can be a fun time and can surprise a lot of friends who are used to seeing you with a longer cut. As long as you follow the above guidelines you should be well on your way to a great cut and a great fashion!

Hair Straighteners

Do you have curly hair and wish it were straight? Have you investigated the variety of treatments available? You may want to investigate the positive as well as the negatives to chemical as well as SEDU which involves the use of a tool.

If you choose to use chemicals then the result is that your hair will be permanently straightened. This is an involved process that rearranges the actual structure of your hair. Chemicals such as sodium hydroxide and others are used to actually change the make up of your hair. These chemicals are very potent and can actually damage your hair if not used correctly. Consult a hair professional if you are considering chemical straightening.

The steps that are involved in chemical straightening involve testing your hair. The professional will test a few strands of your hair to see how it reacts to the process.

It is important to protect the scalp as chemical treatments can burn the scalp and cause permanent damage.

The chemicals should be mixed with hot water and then placed on the hair. This is when the actual straightening process takes place.

The process involves special conditioners which relax the scalp.

There are some disadvantages to this process. The process can be expensive if done by a hair care professional. It is also time consuming and regular treatments are needed for upkeep. There is a chance that you may be burned or you may react adversely to the chemicals.

The use of SEDU or a hair straightening tool can be done by anyone. The tool is easy to use and depending on the length of your

hair, if can take approximately 10-15 minutes each morning to straighten your hair. The risk of burning or damage to your hair is much less.

The following recommendations are suggested if using a SEDU:

Always use the tool on clean hair. Make sure you are using conditioners so that your hair is healthy.

It is recommended that you use the tool on partially dry hair. This prevents your hair from drying out. If your hair is a little damp it will make the straightening process easier.

Divide your hair into sections and use the tool on one section at a time. Depending on the length of your hair, this may take anywhere from 10- 15 minutes.

Make sure you brush your hair so that it is not left in divided sections!

The tool is inexpensive and comes with complete instructions. The directions are very easy to follow and the tool can be used at home. The risk is minimal to your hair and scalp.

If you are interested in straightening your hair, consider both options. The most important consideration is healthy hair. Which ever method you choose, make sure that you are protecting the health of your hair.

Female Hair Loss Is It Real?

Twenty five percent of women experience hair loss. That is 1 out of every 5 women suffer from thinning hair . This is a very high percentage but is not common news . Nearly all of the merchandise advertised on TV and radio is directed at how to retain your hair long, keep it shinny and beautiful . Few advertisements address the problem of women who suffer from the embarrassment of hair loss.

Why is My Hair Thinning

The cause of hairloss for both men and women is the same . The problem is referred to as androgenetic alopecia . This is a ancestral condition that your father, grandmother, or mother likely suffer from hair loss as well. Other common causes that might cause hair loss are: pregnancy, thyroid trouble or other medical conditions that upset the balance of hormones in your body .

Donning severe hairstyles that pull the hair can induce hair loss. These hairstyles cut off the blood flow to the hair follicles and cause the hairline to recede. There are certain medications that can cause hair loss. Diuretics, anti-depressants and cancer chemotherapy agent can cause temporary hair loss. If you are diabetic and take medication for this it is also recognised to cause female hair loss . There may be an underlying medical condition that is causing the hair loss.

If you discover your hair is thinning than look for some professional counsel before attempting to find a product to cure it . First, ascertain what is causing your hair loss, is it a new diet or some pills you have started to have, perhaps you switched your shampoo . It maybe that modifying your diet or shampoo or pills could stop the problem of hairloss . Once, you have located the cause of hairloss than the treatment for female hair loss will be more efficient .

Treatments For Hairloss

If the cause of hair loss is androgenetic alopecia, treatment options are available. One of those treatments advances the blood flow to your hair follicles and is called minoxidil (Rogaine) . Their is no gaurantee that this product will heal your hairloss troubles but it does offer a little hope. The same male hormone testosterone and dihydrotestosterone is the cause of the thinning hair. The simple problem is the androgens that make hair growth to stop.

The intent of Minoxidil is to restart your hair growth process . This is one of the most popular medications for male baldness . But, Minoxidil (Rogaine) can be used by females. The cost of this treatment is not cheap and currently works out at roughly $50 per month . This product has been widely used by women for female hair loss and has been found to slow down and, in some cases, even regress hair loss.

The female hair loss pattern is wholly different from that of men. Unlike men who get a receding hairline women usually get thinning hair all over their head . If the hair is thinning in patches, the condition may be caused by an autoimmune disorder that inflames the hair follicles. A dermatologist can deal with alopecia areata with a simple anti-inflammatory drug.

To fight female hair loss the 1st step would be to discover the root cause of the trouble . Then call your doctor or dermatologist to schedule a date for treatment.

All About Hair Dryers

The healthiest way to dry your hair is to let it air dry but since most of us do not have the time for this we use one of the quickest and easiest ways available today. A hair dryer of course! Although there are two kinds of dryers available in the market today -- the bonnet hair dryer, and the hand held blow dryer -- I think you would agree that most people use the latter in their homes. Hair dryers basically use a motor to blow heated air to dry your hair quickly.

These days, more than ever before, we have many options for this basic hair care tool. Not only can you get many different attachments you can also pick the technology so you can get the results you want. Dryers come with straightening attachments, curling attachments, diffusers and more. A diffuser is a great attachment for creating volume and body. For curly hair it is ideal as it enhances curls with a softer, diffused air flow so you will not end up with a frizzy mess.

You can get your basic hair dryer that uses hot air. If you do not blow dry every day or for too long and already have healthy hair, this should do fine for you. For people who are using a dryer everyday and for a long time as they are styling and changing their hair texture as they dry, look for an ionic or ceramic hair dryer or one that has both.

Ionic dryers blow charged ions with warm air to hair so the water molecules are broken down to smaller size that your hair can more easily absorb. The ions surround the hair shaft preventing loss of natural oils and retention of moisture. They also close the cuticle for a more smoother, shinier look. You will also notice reduced drying time and less frizziness and static electricity with this type of dryer. Tourmaline is one of the newest technology being used in hair dryers. Tourmalines are precious stones which are a natural source of negative ions.

Ceramic hair dryers are ones that have ceramic coils inside to maintain an even temperature and a consistent dispersion of heat so it does not damage your hair. Ceramic technology is also known to assist hair retain its natural moisture and oils and helps breakdown the buildup of bacteria buildup.

These days you can now find hair dryers that include both ionic technology and ceramics coils and are fairly reasonable priced.

Some things to look for when purchasing a hair dryer:

- How loud is it? Since you are going to have it so close to your ears, this should definitely be a consideration.

- How many heat settings and speed settings does it have?

- Does it have a cold setting or cold blast? Some dryers have a cold button that you do not have to hold down -- which is what I prefer.

- How heavy is it? Much lighter ones are available nowadays comparable to travel dryers.

- Is it ergonomic? You want to be able it hold it comfortably and in a natural position so you are not straining your wrist.

- Does it have a retractable cord? I happen to love this feature.

- Does it have a removable lint catcher?

Tips

# Never wrap the cord around the dryer as it may fray or damage cord causing a hazard. Of course a retractable cord is ideal and would eliminate this problem.

# Make sure to clean the hair dryer often, Too much lint of stray hairs can block airflow and cause the dryer to overheat. I prefer dryers that have a removable lint catcher for easy cleaning. Back when they did not have this option, I would use a vacuum.

# Try to give your hair a break from blow drying at least one a week. Even with all the new technology, heat is still damaging to your hair to some degree.

Permanent Hair Straightening Basics

Permanent Hair Straightening has become very popular as recent styles of pin straight hair are the in thing. This technology was developed in Japan where straight hair is desired by most women. This process is generally called Japanese Hair Straightening but in the US, Canada & UK it is also referred to as Ionic Retexturizing, Japanese Straight Perm, Thermal Reconstruction, and Rebonding. This is a very intensive process that leaves the hair completely straight, and feeling silky and smooth with a glossy appearance. It works by breaking down the hydrogen bonds in the hair's cortex to remove all curl and waves. Since this is a permanent restructuring of your hair, it will last until new hair growth, which will of course come in as normal.

Permanent Hair Straightening only works on Caucasian or Asian hair. It is not recommended for African hair which is considered more fragile. For African hair you are better of with relaxing which is especially made for African hair. If you have used a relaxer on your hair in the past you should not get your hair permanently straightener as these two processes are not compatible and you may see breakage or fall out. Also, be sure to inform your stylist about other processes like bleaching, color, highlights etc. that you have used in the recent past. The best way to make sure you are a good candidate for this process is to have your stylist do a strand test. Actually your stylist should be the one to suggest this if they are professional and and experienced and are looking to get you the best results. Although straightening can be done on colored hair, be sure to follow general guidelines of waiting two weeks or more before and after.

If you do decide to go ahead remember that hair straightened by this process will keep your hair looking smooth and shiny for six to nine months depending on your hair growth rate. Therefore the 4 to 6 hours (depending on hair length) it takes for the process is definitely worth it. You may also think that the cost of $500-$800 for a good experienced stylist is worth it as it will cut down on daily styling time for many months. I will caution you to use only shampoos and conditioners recommended for your new shiny mane. Primarily you will need deeper conditioning, maybe even leave-in conditioners, and styling products with sunscreen.

I have many friends that swear by Japanese Hair Straightening and have not personally heard any horror stories. I myself am considering it but am still mulling it over. One thing to remember is that permanent means that you will not be able to have any curls or waves - no curling iron will work. So it is a commitment for over six months so choose wisely.

Hair Conditioner Tips

Hair conditioner is product that is supposed to improve the texture and appearance of human hair. Hair conditioners, unlike shampoos, bind to the hair and don't completely wash out in order to give the hair the desired appearance. Most people use this product because your hair is one thing you don't want squeaky clean. The real function of a good hair conditioner is to treat the hair after shampooing and help tame it for the next grooming process; combing, drying, curling, straightening etc.

Conditioners, similar to shampoos, comes in various forms. Again you can find products specific to the result you are looking for. Although the original purpose of hair conditioners was to just help detangle clean hair, you can now get one that will solve one of the many problems you may have. Do you need a moisturizer? reconstructer? detangler? glosser? thermal protector? Do you have coarse? super curly? very dry? very fine? thinning? frizzy? or colored? hair. There is a product out there for you!! Just remember the conditioner is leaving product on your hair, whether it is a lot for dry hair or light for fine hair, to give it the appearance of luster and gloss.

If you have curly, coarse, dry or damaged hair, try to condition every time you shampoo or wet your hair. Obviously a moisturizing conditioner would be best for you. You may also want to consider deep conditioners. Fine or limp hair can actually do without conditioner. You may just need a detangler if that is your problem. If you do use a conditioner be sure to apply it only to the ends to mid shaft of your hair. This will prevent a greasy oily look you want to avoid.

Tips

- For best results, apply hair conditioner to wet hair after you have squeezed out most of the water.

- Take some conditioner in your hands and work it through your hair. For normal hair start half way up the shaft and pull through to the ends. For a dry scalp or very dry and damaged hair use it on the entire length of your hair including the scalp.

- Rinse out conditioner with cool, not warm or hot, water to get a shiny mane.

- Cover your hair with conditioner right before a swim to protect it from the harsh pool chemicals.

Women in Fashion - Lessons learned from The Devil Wears Prada: 5 Must Know Tips from Movie Fashion

'I think that high heals were invented by a man, he wanted to slow women down so that he could catch up with them'.

For those in the fashion world, whether it is by greater or smaller degree most likely were riveted to the fashions in the movie The Devil Wears Prada, 2006, staring Meryl Streep. Now that it is out on DVD, you might enjoy an evening of just drooling over each and every fashion as it hit the screen. But this time take out your notebook. There are lessons here about fashion that every woman can learn from.

Warning: If you are a great lover of this movie, you can stop here. I don't want to get into a fight but I warn you - I have accessories and I know how to use them.

First, I loved Meryl Streep's in The Devil Wears Prada. I appreciated every definitive movement of Streep's, from the sweep of her hands, her expressive eye movements( that could freeze water into ice and serve them to you in cubes), her majestic walk and her heads up - first in the class attitude. Now in the real world I rather she be nice to people - but that would make a boring movie. Streep in each and every fashion outfit she wore was the epitome of elegance, style and class in this distressed-denim-drenched fashion deprived world. How I watched each scene with envy, appreciation, anticipation and delight.

I bet, I was not alone in the hero worship of one of our favorite bedecked movie icon. Wow. Her silver white silky tresses alone made me reconsider my next bottle of dye. And let us not forget that across the country big girls were hopping up and down - please don't imagine that - celebrating the fashion blessing that Ms. Streep was no size 4.

Ann Hathaway, on the other hand, in the number two role as the much put upon junior assistant, sails through the movie going from Cinder Maid to Cinderella. The majority of the outfits were pin up and "cut out worthy" from our favorite fashion spreads. Ms. Hathaway, sporting a slim trim body once again showed Hollywood's predilection to wafer thin women. At least we were not subjected to bones jutting out from ridiculously sharp collar blades.

Oh, what a delightful succession of fashions that just delighted the eye, inspired the imagination and caused us to dream.

Lessons Learned

Here is how we can take to heart some lessons we learned from the silver screen.

  1. Fashion is designed to have you buy something that has the predetermined shelf life of cottage cheese. The scathing comments directed to Ms. Hathaway at the beginning of the movie, clearly indicate that picking your day's attire takes more than sniffing for what's clean and searching for something that doesn't need ironing.

  2. That a designer will put a fashion combination on a cover of a magazine that you would never dream of coupling together. Remember the screen when we were stung with not knowing the "proper" belt accessory. Bah humbug. This should remind you that even in the fabulous TV's Sex in the City's there were wardrobe hits and misses. The designers can be experimental, after all, the fashion has a life span of a June bug.

  3. That people can pay all too much money for a handbag - after all it is just something to put "stuff" into. Well, just think of a purse is another opportunity to be mismatched with your shoes.

  4. Real women will die wearing high heals that are high enough to give you a nose bleed. Be comforted in the fact that you may avoid being crippled later. I think that high heals were invented by a man, he wanted to slow women down so that he could catch up with them. The good news though for those who do not heed my words, that any pair of those shoes could double as a lethal weapon in case of emergency.

  5. Even designers have off days, and seasons for that matter. Learn how to just walk away from anything you can't describe what color it is. I believe that one of Hathaway's dresses could best be described as the color of thawing frozen spinach.

But rejoice. Revel in a few moments of pleasure when you were transported to a better place, before your feet must touch down once again to the bosom spilling, acid rubbed, liquidly tight jeans and T-shirts we are forced to see on the streets today.

So maybe, you can forget the plot, turn off the sound, hold on to the remote and fast forward though the movie, to lovingly feast your eyes on "the wardrobe of our dreams". Welcome to fashion heaven.

Fashion For Women

Shopping for women's apparel has never been this good. The selections are getting wider and better, with so many different styles, designer labels, and off-the-rack outfits available for women of all sizes, shapes, and ages. The most important factors that women consider when buying fashion are still style and color. Comfort, fit, and designer labels are also significant factors that are considered in purchases. When choosing styles, women are now looking for apparel that they can wear both to work and to socialize. Pantsuits, skirt suits, blazers and the classic white blouse are favorites in the office, while off-the-rack outfits and jeans remain popular for casual wear. When shopping for fashion, it's important to know how to pick the right clothes for you. Merely copying what is touted as the current trend or what is "fashionable" will just make you a fashion victim. A wardrobe that is fashionable but still fits your lifestyle, your age, and your figure will be the best. Try to get a good mix of trendy and basic apparel, so that you won't have to update your wardrobe every time a new fashion season comes along.

One of the hottest niches in the fashion industry is designing and marketing fashion apparel for teens. This is due to the fact that teenagers account for billions of dollars spent each year on clothing and accessories. Anyone will agree that teenagers are habitués of shopping malls, and discount apparel shops as well as designer outlets are picking up healthy profits from teens buying trendy outfits every season. Tank tops, athletic wear and sports shirts, short skirts and low-rise jeans are very popular items. Trendy clothes that sell at reasonable prices are hot for teenagers, and merchandisers who give them value along with great fashion benefit the most. As a result, stores like Wal-Mart and Target get more teenage sales than outlets like the Gap.

Denim wear continues to be an all-time favorite, especially for teens. Jeans, jackets, skirts, and shorts are hot as ever. Jeans now come in an assortment of styles, whether it's slim fitting, low-waisted, or bootleg designs. As with all other fashion apparel, different styles are suitable for different wearers. For example, teens who want to appear more svelte-looking usually prefer low-rise jeans, while women with fuller figures like relaxed fit jeans for a sleeker look. Petite women with slim figures go for slim and snug designs, either with a tapered cut or boot-leg cut.

And denim doesn't come in just blue and black anymore. Jeans are now made with colors ranging from the usual blue and black to light brown, red, and ochre. You can even find jeans with military-type designs and colors, like khaki and olive green. One of the factors that make jeans popular is the fact that they can be worn with almost anything. Jeans can be coordinated with jackets, shirts, peasant tops, blouses, or almost anything else you may find in your closet. Teenagers often love to decorate their jeans with embellishments like beads and crystals to give them more flair and individuality, as well as to make a personal statement. Along with a complementary jacket, a shirt, and a pair of trainers, this outfit remains one of the favorites among teenagers.

Top 10 "Save-the-Day" Fashion Fixes

You're about to have your "red carpet" moment when you casually glance at the effortless swish of your knee-length frock and notice the hem has fallen. Or, perhaps, you're radiant in head-to-toe summer white, when your dinner partner splashes a bit of red wine on your blouse. We've all had it happen--no need to fret.

We've consulted a team of experts-- Vanessa Wakeman, owner of Indulgence event and wedding planning, in White Plains, New York; Renee R. Klein and Zoe Schaeffer, co-owners of Presse, a high-end fashion boutique in L.A.; and Jen Goodkind and Jayne Chase, co-hosts of "A Fashionable Life" radio show--to help you navigate even the most unexpected fashion emergencies.

Healing Heels You're ready to mix and mingle in your strappy stilettos and--as luck would have it--snap goes your heel. "You don't want to spend an evening hobbling around," says Klein. "Instant Krazy Glue To-Go is the answer. I always carry it with me."

On the Spot For treating spots and stains, Chase swears by Tide to Go sticks: "I carry at least one in my purse at all times." Other remedies: get rid of makeup stains with baby wipes, which also help remove lint from clothing and dirt from shoes.

If you're fortunate enough to catch a deodorant stain before leaving the house, Schaeffer recommends steaming the garment with a traditional steamer "or hanging it in the bathroom during a hot shower."

A Bad Run You can always rely on an old standby--clear nail polish. "Paint just a dab on a stocking run, and you'll be good through your event," says Schaeffer. Another quick fix, says Wakeman, "is a dash of hairspray."

Weathered Leather Nicked your leather bag, shoes, or belt? "Carefully touch up the area with a matching colored Sharpie," says Schaeffer.

Hem havoc The beauty of a sewing kit is that it's compact and multi-functional. Goodkind divulges, "I always take them from the last resort I've been to," which makes them free, too! Masking tape or duct tape can also come in handy. Grab the lighting guy/gal or musicians at the event, who usually carry tape in case it's needed for their equipment.

Simply Strapped Falling or snapped bra/dress/shirt straps can be a real nuisance and the easiest and most obvious answer is: "A safety pin," says Chase. "Always carry small ones, which are less visible but still secure."

Zip It If your zipper is not ready to rise, "a bar of soap or wax candle rubbed gently onto the problem area should help it loosen up," advises Wakeman.

Cute as a Button If you have a button that's floor bound, clear nail polish will come to the rescue, again. Dab the top of the button to prevent it from falling off. Another way to keep it tight: a storage bag tie. Peel off the plastic and thread the button with the metal strip.

Better Sweater Rub a piece of Velcro up and down the fabric to remove sweater pills. For snags, take the tip of a closed pen, push the snag back through the inside of the garment and knot it.

Ear and Now The backing of your earring has fallen on the dance floor and it's nowhere to be found. "Not to worry," says Wakeman, who's seen this happen to more than one bride. "Take the eraser off a pencil and push it through the stem. You'll be good to dance the night away."

While emergency remedies are invaluable, averting disasters is obviously the way to go. Have the soles and heels of new shoes reinforced, and always be sure to waterproof suede shoes, advises Goodkind.

Chase also advocates carrying an extra jacket, a cashmere cardigan, or a pashmina in case you need to cover up a stain (or it gets cold!). And when all else fails, she says, "Think creatively. I once had a Ralph Lauren pink gingham dress with spaghetti straps. I had the straps taken in and the night I put on the dress, one strap broke. I didn't have needle and thread, so I took the other strap off and wore it strapless. You know what? It looked better!"

Keep-handy Crisis Kit Here's a list of the must-have items that you may want to keep in your purse or in a plastic bag in the trunk of your car, in case of a fashion, beauty, or comfort emergency.

Baby wipes: To remove or reduce make-up stains on clothing. They also remove lint from clothing and dirt from shoes.

Blotting papers: For unexpected greasy moments. Clear nail polish: For a torn stocking or loose button. Hairspray: Also good for runs in stockings.

Masking tape or duct tape: For fallen hems. Instant Krazy Glue To-Go: A quick fix for broken heels.

Mini sewing kit with safety pins: To temporarily mend fallen hems, broken straps, or small tears.

Mini umbrella: For unexpected rain showers. An extra pair of pantyhose: Tuck them in a small plastic zipped bag.

Pen: A closed tip can help invert sweater snags; so can a small crochet hook.

Pencil: The eraser can be used to secure post earrings.

Sharpie markers: To dab scuffed or scratched leather on shoes, purses, belts, etc...

Soap: For a stuck zipper.

Tide to Go stick: To attack stains in an instant.

Velcro: To get rid of pills on sweaters.

Vaseline: Keep a small tube handy to rub on men's or women's patent leather shoes, so they don't stick together while you're dancing.

Cover-up (cashmere sweater, jacket, or pashmina): Good to keep in a plastic bag in the trunk of your car, to hide a stain or torn fabric, or simply for warmth in an overly air-conditioned venue or on a cool evening outdoors.

Discover 2007's New Fashion Style

Every year around this time all the Glam and Style magazines are a buzz as to what the designers unveiled at "fashion week". 2007 seems to be no exception, as women everywhere want to know what fabrics, textures, colors and accessories are hot. Although spring has just begun, this article will discuss the new fashion styles already exploding on the scene.

With so many fashion designers out there, they don't always seem to agree on all the new fashion styles presented on the runway. One thing they do agree on is the "preppy/prissy look". To achieve this look, wear an Oxford shirt with either a tennis skirt (Yes! They are back in style) or a mini skirt (but not too MINI, so where as each step you take reveals what God gave you). If you really want to achieve this look, add a color coordinated tailored blazer. Topping the look off with a pair of strappy or chuncky sandals. For the more athletic look, wear a bright colored tank tee with a fresh pair of cool sneakers.

Another unanimous inclusion to this year's fashion style is embellishment. Done the wrong way and embellished clothing spells DISASTER. The way to avoid this is by finding monochromatic pieces. This meaning clothing with diamond studs, beads, etcetera with a single color. Favorites the designers love are silver, copper and bronze. Most popular are the blouses or dresses adorned with crystals, beads or even edgy studs that move freely and flow fashionably on the body. When you find a blouse or a dress that is simply "to die for", go for the total "glam look" by adding a pair of strappy or chunky high heels and a matching handbag.

Patent leather has resurfaced as another hot material. It's popping up on more than just accessories this season. You can find patent leather coats, skirts, purses and shoes. The "new patent leather" gives a boost of high gloss finish anywhere it presents itself. However, you must keep in mind to make sure to keep it simple when wearing this material, so not to have it clash with other textures that are also on the scene.

Finally, the finishing touch....accessories. Statement jewels are all the rave this season. Showing up on everyone who is anyone, from New York, NY to Milan. Bangles on one or both wrists will make any ensemble you put on, sizzle with pizazz! (Most designers recommend gold, it never goes out of style) If bangles aren't for you, you may feel more comfortable in a big bold necklace with matching earrings (something with spring colors that compliment what you are wearing). Embellished handbags are always a bonus.

These are just SOME of the new fashion styles hitting all major and minor department stores worldwide. With all the different designers, styles, prints, textures and colors, it's enough to have you feeling overwhelmed. With a little time and practice, you be able to pick out the perfect ensemble and accessories in an instant! A guarantee to feel as beautiful as you will look!!

Finding Your Own Fashion Style

In a world extraordinarily focused on outward appearance, we need only to open a magazine or turn on our televisions to see the latest and greatest fashion trend; it walks the red carpet, checks out a movie premier, and heads out nightly to the hottest restaurants. And we, as a society always mindful of what's popular, follows dutifully along, eager to purchase the "must have" item of the season. But, ultimately, the fashion style that works best for us is that which looks good on our particular body and reflects our very individual personality.

As anyone who follows the fashion industry will tell you, trends come and go. What is one year's hot item is the next season's fashion "don't." Designers present their newest lines and before you know it stores are carrying these clothes in every conceivable variation. And then, just as quickly, they're gone. It's almost impossible to keep pace. Luckily, the fashion style that makes the most sense on an individual level is the fashion style that reflects who we are as people; and that never goes out of style.

The most important thing to remember is that just because a particular fashion style is popular at the moment does not mean that it will look good on your particular body. Wearing something just for the sake of wearing it ultimately goes against the principles of fashion. A fashion style that you choose to wear should be something that accentuates your positives, downplays your negatives, and complements the overall line of your body.

Take the time to get to know your body and what styles work best with it. Assess your body objectively; if you have trouble spots, look for cuts and fabrics that camouflage what you need them to camouflage; if you are on the shorter side, look for a fashion style that elongates your body; and always choose colors that complement your skin tone.

Once you find a style that works - stick with it and add your personal touches to reflect your personality; that is the best fashion style you can possibly wear.

Think beaded, jewelry, rhinestones, pearls, textured fabrics, lace, and flowers. With a wide range of choices and styles, these straps will not only match any outfit but will make most any outfit.

Allison Mercer launched this San Diego based online company in 2006. She got the idea while searching to find that perfect bra/strap combination. "I like to wear tank-tops and spaghetti straps in the summer but the built-in shelf bras are not flattering," said Mercer. "When I spoke to other women I found we shared the same frustrations. Some friends talked about buying many bras in different colors in order to match their bra straps to their shoulder straps."

Mercer went on a mission. When she spotted celebrities wearing decorative bra straps, she had an A-ha moment and decided to find a way to make the accessories available for everyday women. "There's a strap to fit everyone's style - from serious bling to cute flowers," said Mercer.

For the complete selection, go to www.strappys.com. All of Strappy's straps can easily be attached to a strapless or convertible bra, but Strappy's also sells a comfortable and shapely bandeau bra in a variety of colors.

The Fashion Statement Of Shoes For The Modern World

The fashion statements of shoes for the modern world are more versatile and resourceful than ever before. Unless you stay inside your home all the time, it is very likely that you have worn shoes in some point in time. Graciously, the fashion designers of shoes have given us the option of having shoes for any occasion, including those who do not really care to wear shoes.

Shoes that do not pinch or blister your feet are vital in the modern world of business. Did you know that many professional women have to walk great distances and they normally wear tennis shoes and then change into their dress shoes upon arriving at work? However, you should know that once they do change their shoes they are not wearing high heels, rather they are wearing more comfortable shoes with lower or flatter heels to keep their feet healthy.

Of course while attending such events as a banquets or weddings; there has been a grand re-entrance of high heels in the favorites of women today. Women choose to wear high heels to compliment their dress, while they will either contrast or match the dress they are wearing.

On the other hand, tennis shoes are preferred for working around the house, gardening or simply shopping and so on, since these shoes offer protection for the feet while being very comfortable. For instance, if a woman is playing or working, tennis shoes allow for comfort as well as protection. Their day is a lot easier after working or playing all day long while wearing them.

Summertime brings forth the wearing of sandals in shoe fashions, and the wearer themselves showing off their beautiful pedicured feet, as these shoes are not much more than padding and straps, although they are also complimentary apparel. Most likely, they are sporting painted nails in an array of lovely colors to match their choice of clothing and fashion sense.

On the other end of the spectrum, we find boots of all sizes making their own statement during the cold months of winter. Tall boots are very complimentary to a mid-length skirt, which will show off the boot style. Those who enjoy wearing cowboy boots have begun to show an interest in wearing their jeans inside their boots to show off their particular fashion statement.

Alternatively, short boots are also making a fashion statement of their own as well, as a shorter boot is complimentary to a longer skirt, making just as much of a great impression in fashion, as the opposite style. Keep in mind that shorter boots are also very complimentary to slacks and are often found in the business world. Anyone who works in the city and is prone to switching between tennis shoes and boots will have more ease in changing short boots over long boots.

Actually, shoes are one of the most essential pieces of clothing that aids in creating a sense of style, as they are truly functional as well as fashionable. Shoes can create the feeling of walking on clouds as well as adding the necessary accessory to create a spectacular entrance. Remember, style is fashioned by every piece of an outfit, including the shoes you wear.

Using Color in Women's Fashion to Make Statements

When making a dazzling first impression, the color of your clothes is an important aspect to consider regarding your overall appearance. Color has the power to capture the attention of people in a crowded room and send subliminal messages when you least expect it. During job interviews, career presentations, attending a party, or going out for a night on the town - the color of women's fashion and clothing makes a difference. Depending on the circumstances, the impact could be long lasting and quite influential.

As you first meet a client, encounter a blind date, or apply for your dream job, the color of your clothes sends out signals that speak to the brains of onlookers. The many choices of available garment colors and shades paint a picture about yourself before you even have a chance to open your mouth. For example, there are certain colors that bring about specific emotions in individuals, which have the potential of becoming quite advantageous or end in undesirable results.

There is no denying it - colors can create an impression that makes people feel a certain way. Medical researchers have performed tests on the hormones, body temperature, and blood pressure of subjects upon viewing a rainbow of clothing. They have scientifically proven that color is a powerful influence. An impact was noted in the emotions, self-esteem, personality, weight, shape, and communication of the wearer, as well as those who view the colors in clothing.

As you lay out your wardrobe according to color, the best approach is to aim for appropriate shades that match the occasion, time of year, your age, your skin tone, eye color, hair color, and the places you plan on making an appearance. Many things affect the color of clothes people wear. For instance, an individual in a bad mood may select gray, brown, black, or dulled tones of clothing, whereas an extremely happy person may opt for a brighter colored outfit.

The color combinations you select also affect the way people perceive your intentions. A woman who wears a red jacket with a plain white shirt to a job interview highlights self-confidence and control, whereas the same red jacket paired with a lacy black undershirt may send mixed, distracting messages.

When looking for ways to send the right message or make positive statements at home, school, or work - you should familiarize yourself with the different associations people tend to make in regards to color. Let's take a look at the color red for example. Blue-based reds translate into femininity and intellect. A yellow-based red jacket or shirt is associated with energy. When you're going on a first or second date, this color typically "speaks" to men. Wearing red lipstick suggests power and authority.

Purple is the color of royalty and also influences creativity. It also has the power to awaken the senses and create passionate responses in people. When helping your best friend with a problem, put on a turquoise blouse, which actually places other women at ease and will promote an open flow of conversation. When attending a meeting with clients or co-workers, a brown suit is considered non-threatening and generally relays reliability and support.

Fashion Trends--Why Do We Care About Them?

So many times we see celebrities wearing certain articles of clothing and accessory items that we decide we just have to have them. But the bigger question is why do we care? Is it that the celebrity in all of us just need some validation to our current wadrobe or style? Or does it make sense for us to follow new trends to keep our look fresh and updated?

Validating Our Wadrobe

As women, we are constantly being judged on our appearance, clothes, hair, and make-up. It's been said that women can judge a person in three seconds. That's a pretty quick assessment of someone, especially other women. When we see celebrities wearing something that is pleasing to our eyes, we want to duplicate that look because we immediately decided that we like it. If we do not like the trend, or fashion accessory, we will not duplicate the look because it is of no interest to us.

Fresh Looks

A lot of times we look to magazines and the celebrity world to see what the latest styles and trends are going to be so that our wadrobe won't get stale. It's interesting to see how many times styles and trends will come from New York or California, and then sweep across the country over several months. By the time most of us catch up to the trend, a new trend has emerged and the process starts all over again. This is not necessarily bad, because it keeps all of us on our toes to keep an updated look.

Those Who Don't Care

Some women have their own style and fashion cents who really don't care what celebrities or anyone else is wearing. These women tend to stand out and dress differently that the majority and they are happy with their decision to dress and accessorize according to their own tastes.

The great thing about fashion trends is that we can adopt the ones we like and enjoy, while discarding the ones we don't like and don't choose to follow.

The fun thing about trends is that we can see something in a magazine and laugh about it, and then we can be wearing it the next week. If we keep a sense of humor about fashion and trends, we can enjoy all aspects of it, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Use Of Color Makes Fashion Statements

When you want to make a fashion statement, the color of your clothes is just as important to consider as anything else about them. Color can capture people's attention and can even subtly alter a mood, if you wish. For example, if you're doing a job interview, a presentation, or attending a party, the color of what you were can make a difference. In some instances, it can even make a lasting difference.

When you first go on a date, meet a client, or apply for a job you really want, the color of what you're wearing can send out signals that say something about you to the people you're with. What you're wearing can tell people about you before you even open your mouth. For example, certain colors bring out specific emotions in people, and this can have the advantage of helping or hurting you, depending on how the colors affect other people.

Simply put, colors can create an impression that can make other people feel a given way. Medical researchers have even tested subjects as they view a variety of clothing colors and have seen how this has affected their body temperatures, blood pressure and hormone levels, for example. It has been proven that color can have a most definitive positive or negative effect. The clothing they wear can drastically alter wearers' emotions, self-esteem, personality, and appearance.

If you're looking to update your wardrobe, look for shades that are appropriate to match your age as well as your hair, skin and eye color. More temporary characteristics that will influence your clothing that will change can include the type of weather, specific occasion, personal tastes, mood, et cetera.

Sometimes, what you wear can also affect how people perceive you and your intentions. For example, if you wear a red jacket with a white shirt to a job interview, this can mean that you are self-confident and in control. However, if you wear that same red jacket with a lacy black frilly top, this may be distracting, to say the least, and will perhaps look unprofessional.

If you want to find a way to send off the right message or make a positive statement, do some research on what different colors mean to people in general. For example, the color red is a good example. Blue-based reds generally signify intellectual power and femininity. If the red is yellow-based, it is associated with energy; it may be a good color to wear on a first or second date if you're a woman looking to impress a man. Red lipstick can signify power and authority.

Purple is a color that's typically associated with royalty. It also influences creativity. It can awaken the senses and can make people very passionate. If you need to help your best friend with a problem, wear a turquoise blouse. This places other women at ease and will help promote conversation. If you're attending a meeting with coworkers or clients, wearing a brown suit can make you non threatening and make you seem reliable and supportive.

Make-up Tips for Pale Skin

Pale skin can be very translucent so finding the right foundation is one of your most important tasks. You may find that being so fair that you are a little more prone to ageing especially if you live in a sunny climate. I would recommend that if your foundation doesn't contain a good amount of SPF that you always apply sunscreen on a daily basis as part of your beauty routine and, before your foundation to aid you in slowing the ageing process.

A yellow or beige tint to your base should be enough to minimize the slight redness from your skin if you are prone to acne or if you've been exposed to the elements for too long. It will give you a little warmth to your skin tone. Make sure the color match is perfect, because if your base is too dark, you will look like you are wearing a mask. Use your foundation to even out your skin tone preparing it for the artwork to come next.

Go easy using bright colors on your eyes, as on pale skin they tend to be a bit too much. Try soft pastels, sheer shimmers and natural hues with warm undertones. A little mascara is good too. If your iris is pale then you may need to wear a taupe liner to frame your eyes. Groom your eyebrows and line with a blonde brow powder or smudged pencil. ??Cheek color is where you can bring a little more than the usual natural glow into your coloring. You need richer tones like sheer plum cheek tints and go for a deeper shade of lipstick. This will contrast nicely with brown or red hair. Experiment with brown-reds or berry shades and for a more dramatic evening look a go for true reds.

Coral shades are emerging. I love using a gingery sheer eye gloss, lashings of dark brown mascara, lots of warm cheek tint on the apples of my cheeks. I add a hint of shimmer across the top to bring the eyes out. I might use nude glossy lips for something a little funkier and it looks divine on translucent fair skin. I'm a redhead myself but you may have to alternate tones depending on your coloring and hair color. Have fun discovering your new colors.

How to Enhance Smaller Eyes Using Make-Up

You don't have to be any magician to create flawless illusions. As a former model I picked up all sorts of little tricks from the various make-up artists I worked with. They would say their most often used trick in their magic bags is to "use the powers of light and dark to illuminate the good and hide the bad". Such drama queens they are. But they are true goddesses of illusion.

What you will require for this little exercise is:

Dark brown or black pencil or liquid eyeliner White pencil or liquid eyeliner Lash curler Mascara (brown-black, black or charcoal) Light frost eye shadow Medium color matte eye shadow

Always apply eye shadow first before liner or mascara. Brush a light frost eye shadow on the brow just under the eyebrow. I like to use yellow. (Only use gold or white if you are going out at night because it comes off as a little harsh.) The yellow really opens up the eyes and it makes me glow. For a little added glamour, or as I call it my sly sexy look, I dab a bit on the inner corners of my eyes (and maybe a dab on the highest point in my cheekbone!). Take the medium color matte eye shadow and sweep it on the outer half of the eyelid for contour. If you wish to use dark eye shadow, use it only in the outside corner area and sparingly. Remember, dark hides and shrinks.

Next the liner. Start with a fine line from the inner corner of your eye as close as you can get to your eyelash. As you past the midway point of your eyelid, make the line thicker. Extend your liner beyond the corner of your eye a little to open your eye. This will make your lashes look thicker and longer. For even more of an open-eye look, line the inside rim of your lower eye with white liner. Never completely surround your eyes in a dark liner if you have small eyes; this is counterproductive. One makeup artist did this to me once. And I do mean only once.

And finally for lush luxurious lashes, curl them. Then the mascara. Apply one coat on your eyelashes. Wait a few minutes to see the effect. Then apply second or a third coat to darken your eyelashes more. This will make your eyes look larger as well.

Use lighter shades of eye shadow or a slight shimmer on your lid to really open your eyes, and also use an iridescent highlighter under your brow.

We use the dark to diminish and light to enhance. These are a few tricks that can create the illusion of having bigger eyes.

Have fun discovering your new colors.

20 Quick and Easy Make-up Tips

Here are quick and easy make-up tips. Anybody can use these as they are not targeting anyone with special features.

- If you do not have time for a full make-up, but want to look great. Paint on a bright red lipstick. At least its happy and glamorous color will immediately brightens your face.

- Sweep a little loose powder under your eyes when applying dark shades of eye shadow to catch any falling specks and prevent them from staining your skin.

- Make your lips look larger by wearing a bright, light lipstick. Or make them appear small by wearing dark and more muted colors.

- If you do not have a specialized contouring product for cheeks, simply use an ordinary face powder a couple of shades darker than your usual one to slim down the cheeks.

- Add a drop of witch hazel available in all good drug stores to turn ordinary foundation into a medicated one, it will work wonders on oily skin, which is prone to acne and pimples.

- Mascara your lashes before applying false ones to help them stick properly.

- If you look tired then blend a little concealer just away from the outer corner of your eye. It will make you look as though you had a good night's sleep.

- Never apply makeup before blow-drying your hair - the heat from the dryer can make you perspire and cause your makeup to smudge.

- The color of powder eye shadow can be made to look more intense by dipping your eye shadow brush in water first.

- Keep eye lashes smooth and supple by brushing them with petroleum jelly before going to bed at night.

- Apply cream blusher in light downward movements to prevent it from creasing in specks of color from catching in the fine hairs on your face.

- If mascara tends to clog on your lower lashes then try using a small thin brush to paint color on to individual lashes.

- Make sure you give moisturizer time to sink in before you start applying your makeup as it will help your makeup go on more easily.

- If your eyeliner is too hard and drags your skin, hold it next to a lighter bulb for a few seconds before applying.

- Lip gloss can look sophisticated if you just apply a dot in the center of your lower lip.

- If you are unsure where to apply blusher, gently pinch your cheeks. If you like the effect, apply blusher in the same area.

- To prevent lipstick from getting on your teeth, try this tip. After putting it on, put your finger in the mouth, purse your lips and pull it out.

- Women who wear glasses need to take special advice on makeup. If you are near-sighted, your glasses will make your eyes look smaller. So, go for brighter eye shadows and lots of mascara to ensure they do not disappear.

- A little foundation lightly rubbed through your eyebrows and brushed through with an old toothbrush will instantly lighten them.

- For long lasting blush on sunny days or hot nights, apply both cream and powder blusher. Apply the cream formulation first, set with translucent powder then dust with a little powder blush.

Have fun discovering your new colors.

* Dull eyes - Before applying cosmetics, get out a bottle of Visine. A few drops will restore the whites of your eyes that often lose their brilliance as we age. Removing redness from the eyes instantly freshens up the whole face. Use a glossy acrylic-based mascara to add shine. * Tired eyes - use softer shades of eye shadow in peach tones (not pink) and add blusher to move the focus away. Lightly shade the area just above the arch of your brow with a nude liner and blend, to subtly light up your face and create the illusion of higher brows and lids. * Puffy eyes - place cold compress on eyes for a few minutes prior to adding make up. Use softer shades on eyelids with a little darker tone in the crease of the eyelid.

* Small eyes - use a lash curler after applying mascara to give the appearance of bigger eyes.

* Thin lips - Use a lip plumping primer before applying lipstick to add volume. Do not use a pencil outside the natural line of your lips as close-up it shows and is not attractive. Soft matte lip colours in pink, berry, coral or peach shades will make your lips fuller. Dab the middle of your lower lip with a bit of silver or gold lip gloss for creating the illusion of fullness.

* Bleeding lipstick - outline lips with a lip pencil or preferably use a stiff bristled brush and blush to line the lips before applying a non waxy or semi matte lipstick.

* Colour choices - be soft and subtle in the choice of makeup and colours for the youthful look. To ensure foundation is the correct colour for your face, test on the inside of your wrist.

Make Up Tips For The Eye Area That Every Woman Must Know

A girl has to do what she needs to do to look great.

And learning how to apply eye make up to look great means you've learned the most important make up techniques. In fact, once you learn the top make up tips for the eye area you're going to look like you have your own professional makeup artist, and look just as stunning as a Hollywood actress.

Applying Mascara Always apply your mascara in two coats. Place your finger near the middle of the lid and pull up to hold your lid taut. Hold the wand in a horizontal position, first apply only to the lash tips; and then sweep the mascara from your roots to the tips.

You need to leave each coat dry for about 5 minutes before applying the next coat. Don't rush it! When the first coat is dry, apply the second coat.

Applying Eyeliner You can choose liquid eyeliner for a more dramatic eye or pencil eyeliner for a softer look. Everyone has their own preference. What you want to do is create the illusion of darkness around the exterior eye. Pull the skin taut and then start at the inner part of the lid, drawing a smooth thin line evenly across the upper lid. If you want a softer look then smudge the line using the smudger end on the pencil or a Q-tip.

Next, do the bottom lid. Extend your thin pencil line along the lash line. Try to get as close to the nose as possible for better definition. If you want a softer look, don't do your bottom lid. Also, remember you can fix any mistake with a Q-tip.

Applying Eye Shadow The more traditional application involves applying the eye shadow right to the top of the lid using three shades. Medium tones are more neutral, light are effective for highlighting and dark contours.

Start by applying the first sweep of eye shadow across the entire lid. This is your medium toned shadow and can be silver brown, amaretto, antique gold, or platinum. If you want a little more drama, use khaki green, mauve, or Tahitian blue.

For more emphasis, you should add a darker shade of shadow along the crease of the eye. Good choices for dark include French Mocha, Terra Cotta, Nutmeg, Navajo Brown, and Wind. Finally use a lighter tone like French Vanilla to highlight the brow bone. You can use two or three shades for application.

Eye Make Up: Expert Eye Make Up Tips

Eye make up can be a tricky thing to master. When I first started getting to the age where I was allowed to wear the stuff to school, my mom never allowed me to wear eyeliner. Being rebellious, once I got to high school I wore a ton of it. Probably too much, in fact, although hindsight vision is always 20/20 and at the time I thought I looked really cute with my raccoon eyes. I learned a lot about eye make up from those teenage magazines with pictures of shirtless television heartthrobs in them, but they seemed to leave some very important parts out.

For example, I never was told that eye make up works a lot better when you put on mascara last. Since it was the first makeup that I was allowed to wear, I got into the habit of putting it on first. Everyone knows, however, that you put it on after you put on your eyeshadow and gobs of eyeliner. Also, I went through this phase where all of my eyeshadow had some sort of sparkle to it. Little did I know that glitter was for Vegas, New Year's Eve and Halloween, almost exclusively.

Still, eye make up is my favorite thing to apply and wear, to this day. You can change so much of your look just by changing your eye make up. You can go from daytime and demure to night time party animal with just a few shade changes and false lashes. Countless pages of fashion magazines and more store shelves than you can shake a stick at have been devoted exclusively to eye make up and how to apply it, and something about that demands respect. Even just talking about it makes me want to go throw on another coat of mascara!

Make Up Brushes: What You Absolutely Must Know Before Buying Any Make Up Brushes

According to many experts, the key to having a flawless face is applying your makeup with good make up brushes. The difference between a streaky foundation application and a face that has you wondering if it's make up or just good genes can be in the formation and material of the brushes. Cheap synthetic bristles that you can buy for a dollar at your local discount store usually won't do a very good job, no matter how skilled you are at the application process. If you're on the market for new make up brushes, you might want to consider getting a whole new set. I suggest this because usually when you buy a set, you get a bulk discount of sorts. After all, if one brush is starting to wear out, they're all probably on their last leg. Replace them all and save some money!

Speaking of saving money, if you invest in a high quality set of brushes you probably won't have to replace them for a very long time. As the saying goes: poor people can't afford to have cheap things. Another thing about make up brushes is that you need to make sure you're using the right one for the right job. Don't go using an eyeliner brush to apply blush or foundation. Likewise, the brush that you use to apply your finishing powder isn't well suited to color in your eyebrows.

If you recently bought a set of make up brushes, you should look up what each one is used for. When used correctly, they can really make a huge difference in the way your face looks at the end of the day. Make up brushes are any artist's best tool. Even when you're using substandard makeup, when applied properly it can look like you used the expensive stuff found only at specialty stores.

Make Up Tips - Why It's Important To Stay Up To Date On Today's Make Up Tips And Trends

If you're looking for some good make up tips, you don't need to look any further than your favorite fashion magazine. Like clothes, different shades of make up have different seasons, and there are different ways to apply it that are in style. It's very similar to hair styles...remember when the mullet was en vogue? Like the business in the front, party in the back days of hairdos, make up has gone through many different phases. In the 1970s, there was a push for more natural looking faces. Eyeshadow was kept to a minimum and eyeliner was conservative, with mascara light and eyelashes wispy. Then came the 1980s, and much like the outfits with huge shoulder pads and shiny fabric in bright colors, the make up matched.

Back then, the make up tips the magazines gave readers encouraged them to keep the eyeshadow heavy and in dark brown or metallic colors. The eyelashes were coated in tons of layers of mascara, because the thick and clumpy look was in. Delta Burke was the hot woman of the day and ruled on Designing Women. The natural look was out, the made up look was in. Hair was teased and sprayed within an inch of its life, sequins and poufy sleeves were standard fare.

Thankfully, if you read a women's magazine today the make up tips tell you that less is more. Nobody wants to look like a drag queen and you'll be hard pressed to find anyone to tell you to go out and spend a ton of money on metallic shades. Sparkles are reserved for New Year's and Halloween, exclusively. It seems as though the new millennium is bringing back the natural look, and I couldn't be happier. You can spend less time in front of the mirror each morning and save money on designer hues. What's not to love about that?

Make Up Cases - A Womans Guide To Choosing Make Up Cases

These days there are more make up cases on the market than you can shake a stick at. From hard ones to soft ones to ones that you can hang on a door, shopping around for the best one for you can be confusing and a real pain. Besides that, how do you know what is reasonable in terms of cost? When you really think of it, a make up case is just as important as your purse. I mean, you wouldn't leave home without your purse, and you wouldn't go on vacation without your makeup bag. It's something you look at every day!

When it comes to make up cases, you've got two options: hard case and soft case. Hard make up cases have their own unique benefits. For example, a lot of them have different layers that come out as you open the top lid. This gives you a bunch of organizational benefits. Lipsticks go in one compartment while eyeliners go in a different tray. You can put things exactly where you want them so that they're easily accessible and nothing gets mixed up. Usually with hard cases, things stay where you put them and don't invade another's spaces. A drawback to using hard cases is that they're usually really bulky. What they add in organizational capabilities they also add in weight, and many won't fit in a suitcase.

Soft make up cases, however can fit in just about any suitcase. Because their outer shell is soft, you can squeeze them just about anywhere. Throw one in a glove compartment, in your purse or in the medicine cabinet. The thing is, when you're using a soft case your makeup isn't well organized. Also, without a hard shell to protect your makeup, long brushes or eyeliner pencils can get broken easily. All in all, I'd go for a hard make up case before anything else.

Make Up Mirrors - Tips For Choosing The Right Make Up Mirrors For Your Bathroom

Make up mirrors are a must have for any person who puts any kind of face product on their body. To be sure, you can always tell a person who has a good mirror with good lighting and one who doesn't. Common symptoms of a person who doesn't have a proper make up mirror include eye shadows and liners that aren't properly blended, missed areas of foundation and the dreaded make up line. Nobody wants to look as though they have a three inch thick mask of make up that they put on every morning, so it always surprises me when people don't take the time and effort to get a good mirror.

There are many different kinds of make up mirrors on the market today, and some are definitely better than others. In my expert opinion, the best make up mirrors have two different sides that can be flipped over, depending on what your needs are. The first side shows your face as it really is, while the other magnifies it at least two times the size of normal. Having one side magnifies is imperative when it comes to the detail in your makeup. Let's be honest, good makeup is all in the details. The magnified side is great for putting on your eye make up, and can be your best friend as you blend one shade into another.

The normal sized side of good make up mirrors are best used for looking at the face as a whole. You can use this side to make sure you don't have a foundation line or that your blush isn't too harsh. It is also important that your make up mirror isn't distorted at all. Even if the mirror is the slightest bit concave or convex, it can make a huge difference in the overall result of your application.

Low Budget Skin Care That Works

We all want a natural and glowing complexion. Nobody wants lines or wrinkles, or age spots or blemishes. This is evidenced by the amount of dollars spent every year on cosmetics and miracle creams and lotions. While the cosmetic industry would like you to believe that their product is the "one that works", you can spend a lot of money finding one that truly benefits your particular skin type.

I know that when I walk into a store and shop for a skin care product, I am usually overwhelmed at the selection and the prices. I read the label and read their claims of "no more wrinkles" and "dramatically reduces the signs of aging", etc., then I usually question if it really works. I don't want to spend upwards of $30 and not see any improvement in my skin.

With that in mind, I set out to find a better and more cost effective skin care program. I t have come to the conclusion that homemade skin care is an inexpensive alternative. In addition, homemade skin care really works and as an added benefit, no animal testing involved!

Skin care recipes are easily customizable for each skin type. For instance, an oily complexion may want to add a little witch hazel (for its drying properties) to their toner mixture, whereas a dry skin type may add just a bit of Jasmine (moisturizes dry, stressed and sensitive skins and also helps to increase elasticity). The same theory applies to creating your moisturizers and exfoliation treatments. Each recipe is custom made to your liking. In addition the fragrances you decide to choose or blend are truly unique for you taste.

Some common ingredients used in skin are almond oil, aloe Vera, chamomile and green tea. Each of these ingredients brings with them unique characteristics. For example almond oil is a wonderful vegetable oil for dry skin. It is used as a carrier oil to blend with other essentials oils. In addition it is easily absorbed into the skin and is an excellent emollient. Aloe Vera stimulates skin cell regeneration and is also known for it healing properties. Chamomile tones all types of complexions. The anti-inflammatory effect of the essential oil applied topically improves skin regeneration, and a cold compress does wonders for puffy eyes. Chamomile is used in facial steams to reduce puffiness and cleanse the pores of the skin. Green tea a powerful antioxidant and a potent anti-inflammatory agent thereby reducing inflammation in the skin.

Below is a facial mask recipe for both dry and oily skin types.

Avocado and Olive Oil Facial Mask

Ingredients: ½ half ripe avocado olive oil (for dry skin) Scoop out the flesh of the avocado and mash to form a smooth paste. Apply to face and leave on 10 to 15 minutes. Soften with warm water and wipe clean. Pat face dry and follow with your choice of toner and moisturizer.

Properties of avocado are: moisturizes, reduces appearance of age spots, heals sun damage and scars. Regenerates and rejuvenates the skin. Additionally, avocado increases collagen in the skin thus great for aging skin and has superior moisturizing qualities.

Best Skin Care: Expert Tips For The Best Skin Care

My mother used to always tell me that the best skin care was the easiest skin care. She had great skin growing up and refused to fuss with lengthy day and morning routines that took up more time than they were worth. Still, she also taught me that an ounce of prevention was worth a pound of cure. If you choose the right cleanser and if you make sure to moisturize your face on a daily basis (whether you think you need it or not, you should always moisturize), your skin will remain taught and wrinkle free much longer than if you'd have chosen not to do anything at all.

With all of the medical advances that have occurred in the past hundred years, we now know that the biggest cause of aging is exposure to sunlight. As a result, many facial lotions, foundations and other make up products have a sun protection factor (SPF) in them. Clearly, the best skin care is a regimen that has some sort of SPF in it. You don't only need to apply SPF lotion before you go out in the sun all day, most of the sunlight you're exposed to is incidental. That means going outside to take the dog for a quick walk, carrying your groceries to and from the care and going to check the mail.

When you know when you're most susceptible to exposure, you know how to prevent sun spots and premature wrinkling. The best skin care experts will tell you that if your first step is SPF, the second is eating well. When you eat nothing but greasy fast food and the only vegetables you ingest are deep fried, you're less likely to have clear and beautiful skin. Also, you might want to look into a good exfoliator to slough off dead cells and show off the glowing skin underneath.

LifeCell Antiaging Skin Care - You Look Like Her Younger Sister!

Buying antiaging skin care products may seem like throwing your cash down the drain if you are not familiar with the benefits that good-quality skin care products may grant for your skin. The fact is that a skin care merchandise containing essential nutrients and moisturizers may be your skin's new best friend.

Antiaging enthusiasts love the LifeCell antiaging skin care system. This celebrity endorsed product has gained a large amount of loyal followers. If aging skin is a concern for you, LifeCell skin cream is just what your skin needs.

Although South Beach (the parent company) merchandise have a dedicated following, the price may cause new consumers to hesitate before purchasing. Using a good quality antiaging skin care merchandise on a regular basis can help your skin recover from the abuses of daily life. Even simple things like smiling or talking may stretch and tear your skin. As we age, our skin lacks the collagen and nutrients that are crucial to repair this damage. Advanced skin care products may help replace the nutrients that your body must have to repair itself naturally.

As years go by, your skin changes. It becomes loose, thinner, drier and wrinkled, and slower to heal. The wrinkles happen mainly as a result of the rupture of the elastin fibers and the decreasing production of collagen fibers in the dermis but the diminishing of the fatty cells play a role in this as well as the decreasing bonds between the epidermis and dermis.

The main factors that speed up the damage are sunlight, smoking, pollution, muscle use, inadequate diet, genetic background, and the lowering of hormonal levels at menopause.

Your body counts on your skin to keep out germs and parasites. As we grow older, our skin no longer replenishes the collagen and vitamins that are necessary to repair cracks and lines caused by normal everyday activity. Dry, cracked skin is often a problem as we age, and skin care products are necessary to maintain intact, healthy skin. Antiaging skin care products replace missing nutrients, and the rubbing action required to apply skin care products help increase circulation so your body can repair itself naturally. Skin care products are an important weapon in your fight against illness. Looking younger isn't a bad side benefit!

Serious Skin Care Tips For Women Who Take Their Skin Care Seriously!

Serious skin care starts with a serious regimen that you follow morning, noon and night. If you don't want to have a leathery and wrinkly face by the time you're thirty, I suggest that you use a good facial moisturizer every morning with at least a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15. Since the majority of skin damage is a direct result of unprotected sun exposure, make sure you're always covered with enough SPF to remain wrinkle free. Surprisingly enough, most of the sun you get isn't on days when you're outside enjoying a BBQ or playing frisbee. Instead, most of it is caused by incidental exposure. This means you get sun spots from the rays you catch taking the groceries to your car, checking the mail and walking the dog.

Besides a good moisturizer with an SPF of 15 or more, serious skin care also includes a good cleanser. Make sure you wash the old make up and oil accumulated throughout the day off each night, then again in the morning. This will cut down on clogged and enlarged pores. There's nothing more unattractive than a person whose pores are bigger than my studio apartment. A huge reason to avoid enlarged pores is the fact that once they're enlarged, there's nothing you can do to shrink them down. If your pores are big now, the only thing you can do is try to keep them from getting bigger.

Another thing you should do is exfoliate. Serious skin care means sloughing off dead skin cells that make your face look dull and flaky. This also helps remove the cells that can clog your pores and lead to pimples. If you have other questions about serious skin care, hop online and check out some message boards for tips and tricks. If you can't find anything there, you can always rely on the beauty magazines on newsstands.

Skin Care Products - Too Many Great Skin Care Products, Not Enough Time!

These days, it seems as though there are more skin care products on store shelves than you can shake a stick at. Just looking at cleansers, there are a ton of choices to me made. For example, do you need a cream cleanser or a gel one with microbeads? What are microbeads, anyway? Not to mention the brand names...you can be in the facial cleanser aisle all day looking through them all before you make a decision. After that, once your face is clean you should probably exfoliate a few times a week. But which one is a girl to choose? Do you want a product that features a natural exfoliant (like apricot) or do you want one that science has created?

Those are just the skin care products you use on your face in the shower...what about once you've dried off? Well, according to the beauty magazines I've read you should then put on an anti pimple concoction to keep your skin clear. After that has been on for twenty minutes it's time for a moisturizer. The general consensus on facial moisturizers is that you should wear one that has at least a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or more. Make sure you apply it before you're exposed to sunlight, though. Otherwise, you'll be paying for it later with wrinkles and sun spots galore.

After your face has been prepped with at least four skin care products so far, if you so choose you can now apply your makeup. From the foundation and concealer (to hide the sun spots and dark circles under your eyes from before you wore SPF lotion) to blush and eyeshadow, skin care products can get really expensive. If a normal American woman did a tally and totaled up all of the money she spent on the skin care products she uses every day, I bet it would come to well over $100!

Skin Care Reviews - Why All Women Should Read Skin Care Product Reviews

Skin care reviews are a great resource to use when you're on the market for a new skin care product. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars searching in vain for a product that works for you, you can look in a few magazines and see which one they recommend the most. Chances are, if the top beauty editors have found a product to be worthy of their time they will be worthy of yours as well. Besides saving you money on trying untested products, you can save a lot of time as well. For example, in the case of many face lotions and washes, you need to use the product consistently for several weeks before seeing any results. It can take a lot of time before you find out that a product isn't for you!

On the other hand, sometimes you need to be weary of skin care reviews. Some magazines recommend products because the companies pay for them to. It's almost like they took out a full page ad, but instead of you knowing it's an advertisement you think it's an objective review. In some cases, the reviews are right next to the regular ads that the companies have taken out! In those instances, it's rather easy to see that there isn't much objectivity involved. Online reviews are great, especially if you check out forums and hear what real people have to say about their experiences with the product.

All in all, skin care reviews can be awesome tools to take with you to the store. The important thing is to keep in mind that some of the positive reviews may have been paid for. Also, I suggest actually trying the products yourself. Just make a list of the ones you want, then start with the most affordable ones first. Once you've worked your way through those, you can try the more expensive brands.

Anti Wrinke Skin Care Product - Tips And Advise

In this day and age, people seem willing to try anything, antiaging skin care product, anti wrinkle skin care product and even antiaging HGH to reduce the signs of aging. Many people don't realize that aging is a natural process. Getting older is a normal part of life that is actually quite revered in most cultures around the world. In our Western world, however, we run hard and fast in the opposite direction of aging and take all sorts of products to stave off this process for as long as possible.

Unlike antiaging skin care product or anti wrinkle skin care product, antiaging HGH is really taken through an injection of a hormone. This inhibits the patient's own production of human growth hormone and actually slows down the aging process. Does this process sound dangerous? It should. There are many side effects to taking antiaging HGH, including high blood pressure, soft tissue swelling, muscle weakness and even arthritis. Isn't it ironic that all these symptoms develop after taking a treatment that is supposed to reduce signs of aging?

People who take an anti aging hormone often are desperate to avoid the signs of aging and are willing to try just about anything to postpone the effects of natural aging. The slew of medical problems anti aging hormone procedure sometimes cause should be enough to scare people off of antiaging HGH, but it isn't.

Antiaging HGH is a quick fix for fighting signs of aging and we all know that quick fixes never work. Taking vitamins and nutrients is the physically sound way to take on the signs of aging. Using an antiaging skin care product and an anti wrinkle skin care product may is also a must.

For this reason, people turn to HGH with the hope that this antiaging human growth hormone medicine will actually work to slow down time. Of course, this ignores the fact that any sort of tinkering with the body's internal mechanisms, especially for the purpose of simply reducing signs of aging, is dangerous. HGH anti aging ignores this advice.

Antiaging HGH is a dangerous form of medicine because of the explosive and ironic side effects. It is far better and far healthier to tackle the signs of aging with a proper diet, nutrients, antiaging skin care product and anti wrinkle skin care product.

Black Skin Care Product Information

We all want to be beautiful, there is no denying that. Millions of dollars are spent each year on black skin care products, but at what cost to our own well-being? Along with the boom in popularity of alternative medicine, people are searching for natural alternatives to cosmetics trying to broaden there horizon from a traditional black skin care product.

Commercial deodorants, hair spray, nail polish, perfumes, hand and body lotions all contain in them what are called phthalates. This chemical has been known to contribute to birth defects and has shown up in higher than normal levels in pregnant women. Many might argue to simply using products with phthalates, but the problem is that not all products list them on their labels.

One would also think that by walking into a health food store and simply purchasing "all natural" cosmetics would easily solve the problem. The bottom line is this is a lot more difficult than you would imagine. Much of this is due to companies wanting to cash in on the movement towards "all natural" products. Just because a product declares there are one or two natural products in it, such as lavender or aloe, does not a safe product make. Get in the habit of reading labels, take a close look at what is going into the product you are buying and don't take the advertisement's word for it that all the ingredients are safe.

Finding black skin care cosmetics, such as eye makeup, blush, foundation, lipstick or any other black skin care product is much more difficult to find than hand and body lotions. Again, read the labels. There are a few companies out there that do make an honest attempt to keep their products as natural as possible. Some of these companies are Origins, Aveda, and Clarins. A search on the web of any one of these companies will bring up more information on the companies themselves, as well as manufacturers of all natural cosmetics.

A happy, healthy consumer is a well informed consumer. Don't take the advertising hype and labels as the gospel truth. Dig deeper, read the labels carefully, scrutinize the ingredients. Be aware that some ingredients in the black skin care product you are purchasing can cause allergic reactions. Some of the ingredients attributed to allergic reactions are jojoba oil, tea tree oil, and lavender. Do a test patch on your skin first before you start using the product, you don't want to end up with a nasty rash, or in the worst case scenario, in a hospital.

Top 3 Reasons to Consider Laser Hair Removal

The laser hair removal industry is experiencing a surge in growth and there are many good reasons for it. The process of has undergone many changes over the years and as technology improves so do the results that are experienced by people that decide to get it. For those of you that may be thinking about getting it done, here are 3 benefits to it:

-The results are permanent

This is one of the key benefits to getting this procedure done because in most cases it is a one time process. For those that use shaving to remove hair, this is a key benefit, as you do not have to deal with stubble that keeps growing back and that you have to remove more and more frequently. Also many clinics offer 2 to 5 year guarantees that your hair will not grow back otherwise they will refund you or offer to remove the hairs that grew back.

-The process is less painful

We all know the pain and suffering that is endured by those that use wax to rip the hair out of the follicle. Tweezing does not offer any pain relief either. The process is generally quite painless as the lasers are designed to target the hair follicle only and not the skin around the hairs. Most patients report feeling a warm soothing sensation as the hairs are targeted by the laser.

-Laser hair removal cost less in the long term and saves you time

The cost can vary depending on the location and size of the region but it is important to think long term when you are looking at the price tag. Remember that this is a one time procedure, so you will not need to buy any more wax, or pay someone else to remove your unwanted hairs. Another great benefit is that it saves you lots of time because once it is completed there is no need to tend to that area again. Think about how much time that can save you over the course of 5, 10 or 15 years.

Technological advances have really contributed to expanding this market and people from all over the world are now reaping the benefits of this procedure. A large percent of the patients are men, who can benefit by getting hair removed from their backs. Many male bodybuilders use the procedure to remove hair from the chest and shoulders too. As you can see, there are many advantages to laser hair removal and its popularity will continue to grow.

Top 10 Hair Styling Tips To Avoid A Bad Hair Day

No More Bad Hair Days!

If you ask most professional hair stylists they will tell you that less than 25% of the female population actually knows what face shape and skin tone they have. Knowing your face shape will allow you to pick the perfect hair cut. Knowing your skin tone will allow you to pick the perfect hair color. Most women know even less about how to style their hair. Women are also confused when it comes to knowing what type of hair they have. They may have a lot of hair, which makes them think they have thick hair when in reality each individual strand of hair may be thin, coarse or wavy. This is the reason many women purchase and use the wrong hair styling products. If you've ever experienced a bad hair day check out this list of the top 10 reasons why they happen and vow to avoid all of them when creating your next hair styling moment.

Here are the ten top hair style mistakes hair professionals will tell you most women make:

1. Poor blow drying habits.

Just about every woman's hair can use some volume. Even if you want to wear your hair poker straight it will look better with some volume. The trick is in the blow drying. Don't blow dry your hair front to back- dry it back to front, lifting at the roots, bringing your hair up using a round brush. For even more volume use a vent brush. The blow dryer should be held at least 12 inches from your scalp, and keep it moving.

2. No protection.

If you use a blow dryer, curling iron, and/or electric curlers you should be using a thermal protector spray. With out it your hair is susceptible to damage from the high heat temperatures. Just spray your hair lightly and comb it throughout to distribute it evenly.

3. The wrong choice.

You would think that most women would know their hair type. But when it comes to picking the perfect products for their hair type most women don't have a clue. You may know that your hair is curly but is it a fine, coarse or medium texture? Is it color-treated, straight, wavy, or thinning? Do you need a thick gel or just some light mousse? If you are unsure of your exact hair type, ask your stylist. Perhaps you will need to combine two or more products to get the best results. It's not rocket science but it's close!

4. Too much of a good thing.

Even when they find the perfect product, most women use too much of it. When your hair stylist gives you the perfect hair cut for your hair, few styling products should be necessary. Your hair should fall into place naturally. No more than a dime size of product is usually necessary. You will need even less of serums or pomades as they are more concentrated. Weighting your hair down with too much product can make it look unwashed and it will become a dust magnet.

5. Flat iron flattening

Incorrect use of the flat iron is evident to most hairstylists. Your hair can become "fried" over time. This can lead to breakage. Many women forget the thermal spray that protects the hair shaft from the heat of a flat iron. After using the protection you should start by sectioning your hair into small sections almost as wide as the flat iron. Starting at the roots, slowly pull the iron down to silken and smooth the hair. When you come to the end of your hair you can choose to pull straight out, flip up or flip under.

6. Trying to style wet or damp hair.

Only hair that is completely dry will hold a hair style. If your hair takes a long time to blow dry you may want to wash it at night to avoid feeling rushed in the morning. Actually hair that has had time to recoup some of the oils that have been washed out will behave better. Once your hair is completely dry, apply any styling products you are using and continue to dry your hair on a low to medium setting. Then style.

7. Waiting too long in between hair cuts.

Ask any professional: A great hairstyle begins with a great hair cut. Some hair cuts will look great as they grow out, but if you like the hairstyle your wearing, get back to the hairstylist as soon as your hair begins to grown out. This could be anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks. This will help the stylist know just what look you want. Another good tip is when you get that perfect hairstyle or haircut, be sure to take a picture, one of the front, one of the back, and both sides, and bring them with you. This way the hairstylist will know exact what you want. Even if you want to grow your hair out, a trim of the spilt ends is very important. Frequent trims will cut the split end off before it can split the entire shaft of hair. This is important if you want a smooth and silky look to your hair.

8. Over styling.

Unless you're a runway model or someone who is embarking on one of life's most momentous occasions, like your wedding or prom, there is no need to go over board. Today's styles call for natural hair that moves and falls freely. This is achieved with the proper hairstyle that fits your hair type and the use of just the right hair styling products.

9. Under styling

Just the opposite of over styling are the millions of women who do nothing. Unless your hair is only a few inches long, it's not "wash and go". The right hair cut, a little blow drying and styling product can make all the difference in the world. Give it a try!

10. Pick the wrong hair style all together.

Most women choose a hair style that they see on someone else. What looks good on your favorite celebrity or co-worker may not be the hair style that fits your face shape or will work with your type of hair texture, be it wavy, curly, poker straight or thick and springy. Your hair stylist will know what your hair will and will not do, so it is best to bring several hair style pictures with you when visiting your hair stylist for a new hair cut.

Top 5 Hair Mistakes and Blunders

You can avoid most hair mistakes and common hair blunders if you just do one thing, Stop! and ask a reputable hair stylist first. However with our everyday "fast paced" lifestyles, it is almost unavoidable that we all head down these "mistake-driven" roads at least once or twice during our lifetime. Some common mistakes are made without even knowing it. Let's face it, we all make hair mistakes, but some of the most common can be avoided with a little research. I am going to list some of the most common ones here. Of course this is not all of them, but in my experience the most common:

1. Cutting Your Own Hair. Here's the usual scenerio. You're in a hurry. You don't have an appointment with your favorite stylist and you doubt you can get one anytime soon. So you are tempted to trim it. "Just take a little off here, maybe there... I'll make it easy for you "don't self-cut". Just don't do it. Once you start cutting, it's hard to stop and impossible to keep your style even. This blunder can only lead to bigger problems.

2. Choosing the wrong Style

As we age, our faces/bodies change, and the hair style must mature with us. This doesn't mean that you have to choose something drab or old-fashioned, but it does mean that you have to be willing to "let go" of your tried-and-true lifelong style. Remember, that your style must fit your face and personality. Remember, Just because it is right for Paris Hilton, or Jessica Simpson, doesn't mean it's right for you. You should be candid and honest about your own facial features and age when choosing a style. Be honest with yourself.

3. Choosing the wrong Products

Many women will mis-diagnose their hair type and subsequently purchase the wrong hair products for their hair. Any reputable stylist will be able to help you choose the right hair products for your hair type. Consult with your Stylist. There are many outstanding products that you may not even be aware of.

4. Choosing the wrong Color

This is a big one, and may should be at number 1. Even though all hair colors are beautiful, they may not appear beautiful on you. So, when coloring or highlighting your hair, carefully consider which shades will flatter your skin tone. Bring a photo of the color you want to your sylist and discuss the tones and hues of the shade and how it will look on you. Don't color your entire hair again and again. By doing the entire hair repeatedly, the color can be uneven and the ends are over-porous. Try to apply the color only to the new growth of roots, spread the color through the rest of the hair just briefly (only a few minutes), then shampoo it out. Never perm and color on the same day--a few weeks in between is best. Tip: Women have known this for years, and I will pass it on to you: the older you get, the less you can get away with a hard, harsh color next to your skin.

5. Leaving Shampoo and Conditioner in your hair

Shampoo and conditioner if not thoroughly rinsed out of the hair is the worst culprit for bad hair days. Don't Leave shampoo and conditioner in your hair. Using a clarifying shampoo once a week will give hair a residue free fresh start.

There are several hair mistakes that we all commonly make again and again. We all make mistakes but they can be avoided. Usually with a simple phone call and consultation with your hair stylist, a lot of the most blunders can be thwarted That will save you a lot of "hair" regrets by itself.

In our fast past society, the best advice I can give today, would be: Slow Down and think about what you are doing before you go to "hacking", and try not to do it yourself. Get the help, that's what hair stylists are for. Our Sylists are at: http://village-hairstyles.com

Female Hair Loss: The Role Of Stress And Hormones

Most of us are well aware of that the amount of stress that we are faced with has steadily increased for decades. Women especially are juggling many roles both at work and at home. At times, a sudden loss or thinning of hair may be attributed to stress or a single traumatic experience.

When exploring the possible causes of your hair loss, consider what kinds of things have happened to you in the last 12 weeks. Have you been through a divorce? Has a loved one pass away? Been recently unemployed or started a new job? You should think back three months when considering these questions. This is because it often takes this long for your hair's health to react to a stressful experience. Keep this time frame in mind when considering other factors, too. For example, were you perhaps diagnosed and treated for a recent illness within the last 12 weeks? Did you start a new medication in the past three months? In regard to stress-induced thinning hair thinning, since the stressor was short term, the result of the stressor may also be short term.

Another element to consider in hair loss and thinning is hormones. One hormone that plays a major part in hair loss is testosterone. Women typically have a low level of testosterone present in the body. When testosterone works on another hormonal substance called DHT, balding and thinning occurs. DHT is considered an androgen. If the androgens such as DHT or testosterone increase, then things such as hair thinning can happen.

Is your thyroid causing your hair loss? Thyroid disorders include an under-active thyroid - hypothyroidism or an overactive thyroid resulting hyperthyroidism. Either of these imbalances can cause hair loss. Thyroid issues are increasingly thought to be an issue in perimenopause and menopause. Thyroid issues may be diagnosed with a blood test. However, sometimes thyroid issues may exist even though test results appear normal. Finding a Dr. who treats thyroid issues based on symptoms may be an option in this case.

Also, as you get older, your hair ages too. As you age, your hair's resting stages may last longer. This resting stage, which is the time when your hair doesn't grow, is usually relatively short, but in the later stages of your life, it becomes longer and longer...all the while your hair seems to be staying one length and not getting longer! At the end of the resting stage, your hair usually falls out and is replaced. But, older hair is likely to fall out sooner and take even longer to be replaced, if at all.

Following are a multitude of tests that physicians may employ in order to understand and treat the cause of your thinning or hair loss. Although many of these tests will come back as inconclusive, or even completely normal, it is important to realize that diagnosis are often made by eliminating other causative factors.

* Iron levels * Iron binding ability (TIBC test) * Hormone levels * Thyroid * VDRL (to detect the STD syphilis) * Blood levels (CBC) * A scalp biopsy- a tiny part of your scalp is pulled and examined under a microscope. * Hair pull- the physician pulls a strand of hair to test how many come loose) * Densitometry- a small magnifier is used to closely examine the hair shaft

There are obviously multiple causes of female hair loss and thinning. At http://www.hairchi.com you can download a free report that explains the chemistry, issues and possible causes of female hair loss, along with healthy and natural tips to address this problem.

Hair kid style

Hair kid style If you are a mom or a dad then you know how difficult it can be to pick out clothing, apparel or anything for that matter, for your children! One of the toughest jobs a parent has is bringing their children into a barber and getting them to sit still for 10-20 minutes for the haircut to be over with! But what options do parents have with the hairstyle of their kids? Is it wise to invest in a stylish haircut for a child? Here's a quick guide to hair kid's style!

* Kid's need simple hairstyles! While this isn't a hard and fast rule it is something that most parents follow, if not by default. First of all, kids don't tend to be as wrapped up in their physical appearance as do adults. This means that most children aren't going to care as much about their haircuts 'style' and they'll care more about getting in and out of the barber's chair! (Although this will vary from child to child). Kid's hair styles should also be simple because kids tend to play a lot...which means any style that you put in their hair is in jeopardy when they hit the playground! * Simple cuts for boys usually means clean cut! A parent can get their little boy to look good with a clean cut, simple hair cut if they do it right. No, this doesn't mean you have to chop off all of little Johnny's hair, you just need to cut short and comb it down. Many boys will be more then happy with a crew cut or a spiked look and they are usually pretty manageable, taking little maintenance time. * Simple cuts for girls tend to be a little more complicated, but then again girls don't tend to be as rough and playful as boys! For girls the easiest style to handle is the medium length cut. This medium length hairstyle is long enough that a mom can creatively style it in nearly anyway they want but it is short enough that it won't have to be constantly monitored and watched. Super long hair on a little girl may look cute and fun but it can often be a nightmare when it comes to daily maintenance.

If a parent can learn to style a kid's hair then a kid's style can be a fun, cute and/ or easy to maintain. Simple is usually better in the case of hair kid's style!

Hair style wedding

Hair style wedding

Wedding days bring a lot in terms of hairstyle choices and overall fashion decisions. Outside of a wedding dress, hairstyle choice is the second biggest topic for a woman on the big day! Here are a few hints and suggestions when the wedding is approaching for hairstyle wedding:

* Spend the time and money to go to a professional hair stylist! If you are serious about your wedding and the hair style wedding that you choose you should show it by investing in a professional. Sure, maybe you have a local person who always does your hair and knows it very well, but it is still important to get the professional help. * You may want to consider a theme! Many weddings come with hair style weddings that are theme related. In other words every bridesmaid will wear a similar hairstyle. This can be great if you are planning a centrally themed wedding. The only question when this topic is brought up is who should pay for the hair appointments- specific hairstyles can cost over $100 a piece! There is no hard and fast rule so it could either be the wedding party or each individual bridesmaid.

If you are stuck trying to decide between a few different specific styles of hair, you may want to consider this:

* Short to medium length hair (chin to shoulder length) is more accepted straight. When it comes to hair style wedding, short/ medium hair looks great this way! While this isn't a hard and set rule, it is more accepted this way. * Long hair (past the shoulder) is more accepted in a curled or bun fashion. It usually doesn't matter just how long the brides hair is, most of the time it will be fashioned into a bun or a curl if it is past shoulder length. Again, this isn't a hard and set rule but instead a strong consideration.

In 2007 there have been a few new trends already that have been adopted at several weddings. Here is a brief description of the two top 'trends':

* Highlights: Blond highlights have been a huge trend already in 2007 because it adds a light, fashionable addition to any normal hairstyle. It is cheap and trendy! * Hairpieces: Whether a bride uses a bow or a ribbon or a flower- hairpieces are in this year at weddings!

As long as you follow the above guidelines you should be well on your way to a great cut and a great fashion!

long hair style

Tom Cruise is a man who has used the long hair style and Jennifer Lopez is a woman who has utilized the style as well. Why is long hair such a great style? * Take a tip from the Spice Girls! Wearing two or more pigtails (such as Emma on the Spice Girls) is a pretty good way to make your ponytail unconventional this year. You can place the pigtails in different directions and different locations if you want to! * Curl it up! Curling your ponytail up at the bottom is a pretty neat way to add flavor to your long ponytail. Just use hot rollers to curl the last two or three inches. It looks cute and stylish! * Side tail it! While it may seem different, wearing your pigtail as a 'side tail' can actually be a pretty cool trend! You can wear it high, low or somewhere in between! A side tail works great with a hat or hairpiece as well. * Twist it up! There are all kinds of places that sell twisters so you can easily twist your ponytail in a way that is up to you. Twisters let you set your hair in the way you like it best! * Use accessories! Whether you look for jewelry or headbands, you can use your long hair style to your advantage by adding accessories to your ponytail!

Ponytails are a great and useful form of long hair and are used by women all over. They allow you to be casual, and then if you pull it up to a bun- elegant! However, there are some other great, stylish long hair styles, including: braids, dreadlocks, twists and straight! Since long hair is one of the easiest to monitor, the choice is up to you!

Facial Skin Care Tips and Remedies

As far as new technology is concern, many people undergo the process just to look younger and to look beautiful. Mostly, they do that is their faces. As we grow old, wrinkles, dark spots and blemishes start to rule our faces. That is the reason why facial skin care products were designed to reduce the visible signs of aging and improve the health and beauty of the skin.

It is true what that beauty is only skin deep, so it is just right to do what feels right for you. With the huge advances made in skincare products today , most of us still prefer taking the less invasive way.

Here are some facial skin care tips and remedies that will help enhance the skin's appearance at any age without the help of needles and knives.

At the age of 20's, the skin is at its peak of beauty in your twenties, however nurtures its beauty and always use at least an SPF 30 sunscreen. Just continue using that at any age. Try to stay away from oily makeup and cover-ups. If possible use an oil free moisturizer every day. By this age using an eye cream under the eye area especially at night is also a good idea. Use products that contain green tea which have shown to help reduce the risk of skin cancer.

If you reach your 30's, it is when the skin becomes a bit drier and sun damage may begin to appear. Start using thicker moisturizing creams so as to lock in high contents of moisture. Just continue using with eye creams at night and use sunscreen too. Skin bleaching products may need to be used to diminish dark spots from sun damage. It is good to put your moisturizer on over damp skin. This helps lock in more moisture.

It's time to kick it up another notch when you reach your 40's. It is when your skin loses much of it tightness. This s when your skin may begin to look dull and your pores may become larger. Then the blotches, freckles, age spots, discoloration, and changes in skin color may become much more visible.

With this, the retinoids, anti-oxidants and alpha hydroxy acids can improve the look of your skin and your 40's would be a good time to begin using them. It is still essential that you continue using a thick moisturizer and eye serums on a daily basis. Home microdermabrasion kits are also an option that can result in a smoother more even appearing skin texture and tone while rejuvenating your skin's texture and color.

At the age of 50's, the changes in your skin have reached high gear. That is the time where menopause has assisted in the loss of Estrogen which is what has given your skin its elasticity and kept it hydrated, however since those estrogen levels have diminished, you will begin seeing wrinkles form around your eyes, drooping eyelids and expression lines around the mouth and forehead.

Try to begin using anti-aging or wrinkle reducing formulas such as vitamin A (Retinol) or Glycolic acid products. Retin A has proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles while improving skin texture, skin tone and color, as well as your skin's hydration levels. Glycolic acid will trigger new formation of collagen to plump cells and reduce wrinkles on the skin's surface. Postmenopausal women can also use a cream containing progesterone that may improve skin elasticity and firmness.

There is always a way or even ways to get away with skin ageing. Surgery is never always an answer to that. Always put in mind that you can still manage to stay beautiful and have that flawless skin using facial skin care products and remedies.
