This state of the art facility offers plastic surgery together with other ancillary disciplines and prides itself on the service offered to patients. It often is the dedication of these plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgery-trained nursing staff and support staff who are responsible for this surgery's success. Their commitment to providing excellent care to patients has rendered fantastic results. One of our top plastic surgeons is Dr Morris Ritz.

Morris Ritz was awarded the Synthes Prize for best publication by the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Southern Africa along with the Phyllis Knocker/Bradlow Award from The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa for the most distinguished graduate in academic excellence. He has gone on to become widely published and has presented extensively in Australia and other countries. Dr Ritz has a special interest in breast reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, microsurgery, hand surgery, and skin cancer surgery. Two of his specialist fields are Breast Reconstruction and Hand Surgery which incorporates Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction is mostly a procedure utilized by women that have lost a breast to cancer or women at high risk for breast cancer who would like to take a preventative measure against the disease. Through breast reconstruction, a new breast, very like a natural breast in form and appearance, is made as a substitute for the original. Breast reconstruction can be performed immediately after mastectomy or in a separate surgery. Breast reconstruction comprises of two steps. The 1st step is to reconstruct the breast mound to the proper size and shape using either a patient's own tissues or perhaps a prostheses full of silicone or saline. Once the breast mound is created, the nipple-areolar complex is made, using local flaps of skin and medical tattooing to bring about the desired color. Once the new breast has been reconstructed, the opposite breast may have to be lifted or reduced in order to achieve symmetry. Patients are typically satisfied with the outcome of the surgery.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome can be described as a pretty common condition which is brought on by pressure on the primary nerve within your hand. Repetitive movement of the wrist causes this condition, which is characterised by tingling or lack of sensation to the fingers, pain inside hand or wrist, and weak hand muscles. At first, non-surgical treatments will be explored, which might be pain medication, the usage of icepacks to bring swelling down, keeping the wrist wrapped to prevent movement and most certainly advise to stop activities that require wrist movement. However, if the symptoms persist for in excess of six months, surgery may be the most effective option for relieving pressure on the nerve. Surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome, is always performed as a day procedure, either under local anesthetic, with or without sedation, or under a general anesthetic. Through surgery we would be able to relieve pressure on the nerve by severing the band of tissue around the wrist.
